Discontinued Features Release 8

Dropped Support for Session Plugin

We have made the decision to deprecate the session plugin in Simplifier Release 8. After careful consideration and analysis of usage data, we found that the usage of the session plugin was too low to justify its continued support and maintenance.

Drop Support of Oracle for Workflow Engine

If you do the upgrade on a onpremise environment you have to consider that we don’t support oracle for the workflow run- and designtime anymore but simplifier itself without these services runs with oracle database as before.

System Requirement Changes Release 8

Server Requirements Changes

Simplifier 8 releases three new containers: launchpad, workflow-designtime, workflow-runtime that also requires a new system sizing for on-premise installations. Please read the updated Server Requirements for Sizing Recommendations.

Drop Support of Oracle for Workflow Engine

If you do the upgrade on a onpremise environment you have to consider that we don’t support oracle for the workflow run- and designtime anymore but simplifier itself without these services runs with oracle database as before.

General Upgrade Instructions for Version 8

New Simplifier Setup Files for onPremise Upgrade

If you do the upgrade on a on-premise environment you have to consider that we added 3 new containers since Release 7 based on our new modular core architecture. Therefore the Upgrade and Installation Documentation is updated.

Manual Changes Release 8

Update Explored App if using Simplifier Mobile Client 8

Mobile Client 8 does not use simplifier:/// anymore for opening apps on mobile client. This function is deprecated.  If you using Mobile Client 8 please update the Explored App for iOS by importing Standard Content 7 or Standard Content 8.

Update Standard Content

Our Standard Content includes the latest updates for the new workflow engine and form builder wizard, but we don’t change the default OpenUi5 Version. Existing Apps should be working as before, but we recommend that all apps should be tested again. (Download here)

Please download Standard Content for Release 8 after upgrade and import it. Otherwise workflow user task and form wizard will be not available!

Project and Business Roles Assignment

For building Workflows with the new Workflow Designer, every User has to be assigned to at least one Project and needs a Project Role. Default Project Roles will be automatically enhanced with the new Permission Objects for Workflows, but manually created Project Roles not.
