you are correct, in order to be able to delete an authentication method from your instance, all linked users either need to be deleted beforehand or updated to another authentication method. Additionally, any references to that authentication method in other artifacts like login methods must be removed as well. Unfortunately, via the Simplifier UI it is currently not possible to check remaining dependencies of an authentication method, but it would be possible on database level, i.e. by running a suitable SQL query on Simplifier’s internal database schema.
