It is not that long ago that we released Simplifier 5.0. The development of Release 5.5 has been started some time ago…
I was curious and secretly joined the virtual meeting room for the internal review with our developers to get some insights… and wow, there is a new feature I really need to spoiler, even before the release: widget groups.
With Release 5.0 the new UI Designer already makes your work easier, but the awesome new widget groups will revolutionize widget reusability and speed up the UI Creation tremendously. Maybe you’ve already thought about how great it would be to combine certain widgets into a reusable group independent from a specific application. And that’s exactly what you can do with this new feature. Widget groups can be either created directly in the UI designer when editing an application or independently with the new Widget Goup Editor.
Take a look at the video to see how to create Widget Groups while creating an app.
How to create Widget Groups
As you have seen in the video, you will definitely save a lot of time in the future with widget groups when creating User Interfaces for your business applications.
The Widget Group Editor, which I have already mentioned, is of course not something I want to keep from you. In the following video you can see how the Widget Group Editor works and where you can find it.

Pretty cool, right?
Maybe you’re already wondering: created a widget group and use it on another instance? Maybe as a transport? Yes, that will be possible. Widget groups can be easily transported like all other Simplifier artifacts.
Please note: This is only an intermediate stage of development.
Obviously there are further features waiting for you, but I don’t want to spoiler too much for now. Stay tuned!
